Stripes Stores

Our Story Began with Two Service Stations

In 1938, Sam Susser and his wife, Minna, began operating a pair of service stations she inherited in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The couple's two sons, Sam J. Susser and Jerry Susser, joined the family business in the 1960s. The Susser brothers would go on to lead the company, inventing the world's original pay-at-the-pump system along the way.

In 1988, Sam L. Susser, grandson of founder Sam Susser, took the company's helm and helped spur more rapid growth in both the convenience retail and wholesale fuel businesses. During the 1990s, the company expanded its retail presence by licensing dozens of convenience stores in Texas and Oklahoma under the 7-Eleven and Circle K banners.

In 2006, the company minted a new and distinctive brand for its retail business: Stripes® Convenience Stores. The colorful Stripes brand today serves up value, quality and convenience for busy, hard working customers with no time or money to waste.

Later the same year, the company also debuted its proprietary restaurant service brand: Laredo Taco Company®.

In 2014, Stripes® Convenience Store and its parent company was acquired by Energy Transfer Partners L.P. With this, Stripes is now part of Sunoco LP (SUN), a master limited partnership that primarily distributes motor fuel to more than 3,330 convenience stores, independent dealers, and commercial customers and distributors in 9 states.

Stripes currently operates over 645 stores in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma under the Stripes® and Sac-N-Pac™ brands.  Restaurant service is available in more than 415 of its stores, primarily under the proprietary Laredo Taco Company® brand, which serves hot, freshly made Mexican food.  Stripes sells more than $1 billion of merchandise annually.
